A motorist was detected travelling at 172km/hr on the N3 earlier this week.
The Cavan road policing unit stopped the driver of this car on Tuesday night after detecting them driving 72km/h above the speed limit.
The driver was arrested and will be due in court at a later date. Local Gardai have highlighted this case in effort to call on motorists to slow down and abide by the speed limits at all times.
