Northern Ireland's Infrastructure Minister has confirmed she will recommend that Stormont appeal the recent A5 judgement
The A5 project suffered a major knockback when the Stormont Executive's decision to proceed with the upgrade was quashed at the High Court in Belfast. Mr Justice McAlinden says the proposed scheme breaches elements of the North's 2022 Climate Change Act. Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmons has confirmed she has received legal advice on the matter and will recommend that the Stormont Executive appeal the judgement. The A5/N2 committee consisting of members from Donegal County Council, Derry City & Strabane, Fermanagh & Omagh District, and Mid-Ulster District Councils, and Monaghan County Council met recently and reaffirmed their commitment to seeing the road completed.
In a statement, Minister Kimmons says she is determined to see the road built in order for lives to be saved.
