A new councillor has been selected for Aontú in Cavan following a convention that was held.
The convention was held following Sarah O'Reilly being elected in January to the Seanad.
Adrian Rogers was successful in his bid to fill the vacant seat on the Bailieboro/Cootehill MD following O’Reilly’s Seanad election. Two names had been put forward for nomination at the Lavey Inn earlier tonight.
The local Aontú Senator Sarah O’Reilly now sits on the Agricultural Panel in the Seanad and prior to this, twice topped the poll in the local MD elections.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator O’Reilly said she looked forward to working alongside Cllr Rogers for the betterment of the people of the locality and wished him well in his role as a local representative on Cavan County Council.
