A new Chief Superintendent has been appointed to the Cavan-Monaghan Garda Division.
Alan McGovern was appointed to the role and formally took up the position this week.
The post had been filled temporarily since the retirement of John O'Reilly in 2020.

Sligo-Leitrim Chief Superintendent Aidan Glackin had been assigned the additional duties in the interim.
Before his promotion, McGovern had been head of the Emergency Response Unit.
