Minister Niamh Smyth has received confirmation from the Minister for Public Expenditure that the new Garda Station in Bailieboro will open in April.
She said she received the good news that the station will be complete in April at which point Gardaí will commence the occupation of the building.
It's envisaged that over 60 Gardaí and civilians will work from this building once fully operational.
The local minister said she had the pleasure of hosting the Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan to Cavan some weeks back where he got to see first hand the substantial investment into this massive piece of infrastructure for policing in East Cavan.
Minister Smyth said this was a long-awaited project for Bailieboro and East Cavan and is now delighted to see a date for it to be fully operational.
