A major building project for Cavan Institute that's progressing is a real vote of confidence according to higher education minister.
The Minister for Further and Higher Education, James Lawless was in Cavan and Monaghan earlier today. He met with learners and staff at Cavan Institute, Monaghan Institute, and Cavan youthreach.
The visit was hosted by Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Niamh Smyth, and Fianna Fáíl TD, Brendan Smith.
It highlighted Cavan and Monaghan ETB's vital role in delivering high-quality Further Education and Training opportunities across the region. It also served as an opportunity for Minister Lawless to tour facilities and meet learners, staff and board members.
During the visit, Minister Lawless acknowledged the "excellent work" being done by Cavan and Monaghan ETB. Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister Lawless says the proposed facility in Cavan will be a game changer when it comes to education in the region. Meanwhile, Minister Niamh Smyth says she hopes the application can move quickly to the final stage to get diggers on site for the state of the art facility.
