Students who participated in the TY Media Course at the Northern Sound studios have produced a special one hour broadcast of their work that will be aired on Easter Monday evening at 8pm.
The course, which was run in conjunction with Learning Waves, was spearheaded by Northern Sound's Sean McCaffrey. Mr McCaffrey says it gave students "an incredible insight" into broadcasting.
He added that the voices of young people are not listened to enough nor are they given the appropriate amount of credit for what they do know. Meanwhile, student Dean Cahill said it was a "very enjoyable" course.
He highlighted how valuable the hands-on experience had been for all those who participated. "It went very well and everyone enjoyed it. It actually went above and beyond expectations.
"It was very hands on; we weren't learning off Power Point, we actually went out and did vox pops and did interviews in studios. It was great to learn about the people behind the scenes and that radio is not just about the voice you hear; there is a huge crew of people working behind the scenes," Dean added.
