In Cavan, 460 full-time civil servants were employed at the end of September this year, with a headcount of 482 staff.
In Monaghan, 153 full-time staff were recorded, with a headcount of 163.
That's according to figures provided by the Minister for Public Expenditure in response to a parliamentary question from Deputy Malcolm Byrne.
The national total of civil servants as of the end of September 2025 was 53,013.
26,560 of those are based in Dublin.
In his response, the Minister noted that the figures only cover civil servants based in Ireland, with a further 1,096 serving abroad, mostly in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
