A local man has highlighted the importance of making Co Monaghan a great place to grow old in.
Paddy Gollogly is Chairperson of the the Monaghan Older People's Council (OPC).
The purpose of the Older Peoples Council is to provide an opportunity for older people from aged 55 plus across the County to come together, share concerns and experiences, and to inform the decision-making process of the Monaghan Age Friendly Programme.
The Older Peoples Council works alongside the Monaghan Age Friendly Alliance, HSE, Cavan Monaghan ETB, Monaghan County Council, An Garda Síochána, Local Link, Alone, business and education sectors to deliver on agreed actions that will improve the lives of older people living across communities.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Paddy Gollogly said; "The Older People's Councils are extremely important as a recognised structure for communication and representation of older people across our county.
"They provide an opportunity for anyone aged 55 plus to inform and direct the decision makers on what are the most important issues facing older people in Monaghan are and in the communities they live. We all want to be heard and to feel like our voice matters."
