Gardai and fire services have reported that last night was one of the quietest Halloween nights experienced by the local emergency services.
Local Gardai have said that the status yellow rain fall alert that was issued for the country prevented the usual higher numbers of call outs that does be experienced during Halloween.
Fire services across Cavan and Monaghan said the inclement weather and also the fact that Halloween itself was on the last day of the bank holiday weekend was the reason for the decrease in calls this year.
Dermot Brannigan the Chief Fire Officer said that the work community groups had done in advance of the weekend played a big part in making it a quieter night compared to other Halloween nights in the past.
He said that he was delighted that people heeded the messages from the fire service on the dangers that Halloween can pose.
