Over 1,300 people across Cavan and Monaghan have been claiming jobseeker's allowance for a year or more.
Jobseeker's allowance is a payment made to those who are unemployed and genuinely seeking work, or who work 3 days a week or less.
According to figures released by Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, Cavan has the most claimants locally at 820.
While 525 people in Monaghan have been claiming jobseeker's allowance for 12 months or more.
Dublin has the highest figure of these claimants with 12,726.
