Over €160 million has been invested by the Department of Education on local schools over the last five years.
Between 2020 and the end of April 2025, the total capital invested in Co. Cavan and Co. Monaghan schools was over €79m and €83m respectively.
Over the five year period, 28 school building projects have been completed in Cavan and 26 have been completed in Monaghan.
These projects were delivered under the Large Scale and Additional Accommodation schemes and the Modular programme.
Currently there are 3 school building projects under construction in Co. Cavan and 5 school building projects under construction in Co. Monaghan.
There are 21 school building projects in Cavan moving through the various stages of design.
There are 27 school building projects in Monaghan moving through the various stages of design, of which 3 are new school building projects.
Nationally, Since 2020, over €6 billion in our schools throughout the country under the National Development Plan (NDP), involving the completion of over 1,375 school building projects.
