The owner of a Cavan-based retrofitting construction company says trades are dying because of a lack of apprenticeships.
Micheal Smith is the MD of Hybrid Energy Group in Stradone and says most second level students aren't interested in working with their hands.
It's reported that state funding for the construction sector is going unspent because of a shortage of supplies and skills.
