A local senator has shared her concerns over services at Cavan General Hospital.
Senator Pauline Tully highlighted a number of recent cases which seen patients denied vital surgeries leading to life-threatening complications and further deterioration to their health.
These cases were reported to the Sinn Fein representative by concerned families who believe this could of been avoided.
According to Senator Tully, if keyhole surgery was carried out in a number of these cases in a timely fashion, these patients could of been out of hospital by the next day, but instead they spent days, weeks and months having to get care due to a slip up made by the hospital.
She believes the situation comes down to resources and understands that staff on the ground are under severe pressure.
Senator Tully also noted that if the Children's Hospital had of been designed properly and under-budget, more money could of been put into hospitals like Cavan as many are being starved of the proper resources that it needs.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Tully said she intends to bring this matter up with the Health Minister.
She says people want to have faith in their local hospital and that the issue needs to be addressed and taken seriously.
