Local representatives have vowed to do everything they can to get progress made on the Virginia Bypass.
Frustration was voiced by various councillors at the meeting of Cavan County Council this week when was announced that the Virginia Bypass is not be expected to go to planning until Q4 2027.
The announcement followed a motion raised by TP O’Reilly seeking an update on the progression of the Virginia Bypass to planning stage proposed for early 2026.
In response the update was given that the bypass is now looking to go the planning stage in q4 of 2027. Cllr Shane P O'Reilly said he is dismayed by the update.
He said he along with other representatives have called for a meeting with the Department of Transport.
Cllr TP O'Reilly says people in the area are frustrated by the news, adding that this news was a huge blow not just for the locality but for the whole of Cavan.
