Dozens gathered on Cavan's Market Square yesterday evening to hold a vigil in memory of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee who were murdered in Sligo this week.
The vigil was organised by Andrew Shannon from Belturbet.
He said the vigil was important for the LGBTQ+ community in Cavan because it reassured people they were not alone.
He added it was also a way of showing solidarity with the community in Sligo in the wake of this week's events..
This Cavan woman said she came to the vigil because she was "shocked" by what happened in Sligo.
She wanted to show here support to the community, she said, before adding she had a transgender daughter.
Meanwhile, Deputy Pauline Tully also attended the vigil.
She condemned the murders in Sligo.
She said there was "no room" in Irish society for hate and discrimination.
