The chairperson of Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael has resigned.
Philip Kelly from Magheracloone who was also a member of the National Executive of Fine Gael and also the Chairman of Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael has stepped down from the role.
With over 40 years' experience of politics at a local level, Mr Kelly cited the demanding number of hours that the roles were taking up.
He said that the voluntary role alongside a full-time job and getting older were all elements to deciding to leave the positions.
Speaking to Northern Sound News, the local man said he had enjoyed every minute of being involved with Fine Gael on a grassroots level over the years.
Philip says Fine Gael has been very strong in Monaghan over the last number of decades.
Mr Kelly says that after a lot of thought, he decided to call it a day in representing Fine Gael nationally and locally.
