A new pilot programme to restrict what 16 year olds see online is due to operate in the first half of this year.
It's aimed at under 16's in order to ensure they will only see appropriate content.
Last December Australia became the first country to stop teenagers having social media accounts, with the UK and France planning a similar process.
Director of Research at Jigsaw Dr. Jeff Moore, says young people are very aware of the harm and benefits of social media.
