Pocket forests will be established as part of a new project launched by Monaghan Tidy Towns.
These are a densely planted, small-scale urban forest, which mimick the diversity and structure of a natural forest.
The idea of pocket forestry originally came from Japan and is designed to introduce more biodiversity into urban areas.
The project has been launched under the Climate Action Fund.
