Pop-up pool in Carrick to stay until next June

There has been almost full capacity use of the pool since it was brought to the town.

The Pop-up Swimming Pool is to remain in Carrickmacross until 30th June 2026.

Cllr Colm Carthy says he is delighted to receive the confirmation that, following a request made by him and by many of the users of the pool, Swim Ireland and Monaghan County Council have agreed to keep the Pop-Up pool in the town for an additional 6 months.

Cllr Carthy says the high usage of the pool and the huge interest shown by members of the public further strengthens his long-held view that the town needs a permanent swimming pool.

He said that there has been almost full capacity use of the pool since it was brought to the town, and that many of the people who use the pool have only learned to swim when the pool came to the town.

The councillor also said that discussions are ongoing regarding a site for a permanent swimming pool in the town:
