"Cavan Pride will give an opportunity for young people to come together and know that they are not alone and that there is always a forward if you are going through a tough time."
Those are the words of Sean Walsh who is the co-chairperson of Cavan Pride.
The first-ever Cavan Pride march is coming on June 13th.
This has been a long-awaited occasion, as Cavan has never had a Pride march before. Communities from all over are invited to join in with rainbow accessories and Pride flags.
Those in attendance are asked assemble at 12:30pm, before a 1pm start at the Cavan Courthouse.
According to Sean, the event comes after waves of right-wing attacks on the communities in the country.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Sean believes that regional community events like this are becoming "very important" in the current political climate.
He said it's important to let younger people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community know that they are not alone and that support is out there.
Sean said that Pride events act as peaceful protests to highlight ongoing issues that are facing the LGBTQ+ community.
He said a big issue at the moment is trans healthcare in Ireland, with massive waiting lists forcing people to travel abroad to get the life-saving treatment they need:
