A local senator has welcomed progress on securing funding for a major road project.
It's been confirmed that the Transport Minister has given a commitment to ringfence funding for the development of the N2 Ardee to Castleblayney road.
The project has been in the works since 2018.

18 fatal collisions have happened on this stretch of road since 2013.
Senator Robbie Gallagher says next year's allocation will allow for the design and environmental evaluation stage of the project to proceed.
He added it's vital the funding is ring fenced before previous reports expire
