The Minister for Education, Hildegarde Naughton, has issued initial project approval for St. Clare's Primary School in Cavan.
This project will see the provision of two Special Education classrooms and four Special Education tuition rooms.
The extension project will provide a modular framework for the classrooms, and all ancilliary works.

Local TD Brendan Smith has welcomed the news.
He said it is extremely important to provide adequate and up to date classroom accommodation for children with additional needs.
Deputy Smith said the development will bring benefits for whole school community at St. Clare's.
