People protesting in Monaghan today have indicated that they won't be stopping the protest until fuel prices go down.
The protestors have been at the Coolshannagh roundabout since last night, and will remain in place until an agreement is reached.
This local woman said the protest will stop when the government lowers the prices of fuel.
She said: "We're protesting because of the fuel prices, because of the government, and the taxes and what they're putting on it.
"They're making at least €1.20 on what they're charges. We just want them to bring down the prices. If they bring down the prices, we'll stop what we're doing," she added.
There was a mixed reaction from local people to the protests in Monaghan this morning.
Traffic approaching the roundabout is backed up from all directions, but protestors have been letting emergency vehicles through.
Speaking to Northern Sound at this morning's protest farmers highlighted why they are protesting.
One protester said: "People will be frustrated. They don't realise that if this doesn't come to a resolution soon, the country is going to a stop one way or another. In terms of food production, haulage, everything. Businesses can't sustain it anymore."
