Public appeal issued over three people killed in their home

A man in his 30s remains in garda custody.

Post mortem exams are due to be carried out on the bodies of three family members who were found dead in Co Louth.

Mark and Louise O'Connor, who were in their 50s, and their son Evan who was in his 20s were violently killed near the village of Tallanstown.

Superintendent Andrew Watters from Drogheda Garda Station said the O'Connor family are a very well-known and respected family. They are good neighbours and an integral part of their local community in Drumgowna and wider area of Louth and Monaghan. A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the O'Connor family.

The scene remains subject of an ongoing forensic examination by the Garda National Technical Bureau and Divisional Search Team.

Superintendent Watters is appealing to any person with any information on this incident to contact the Garda Investigation Team.
