A West Cavan woman is urging people to dig deep and support the Irish Cancer Society in any way they can. The Irish Cancer Society recently revealed that it must raise €30 million this year to meet a record demand for its services. Demand for transport has risen by 126% in five years.
Diagnosed with breast cancer aged just 36, Tara Doonan leaned heavily on Irish Cancer Society supports such as the Support Line and remote counselling - all of which are only made possible because of days like Daffodil Day and public donations. Speaking to Northern Sound, the Bawnboy native said that due to research raised by public donations, she was able to take relatively new medication to treat her aggressive form of cancer.
