Funding of €15 million for Cavan Regional Sports Campus is being described as very good news for the region.
Today the announcement was made of the additional funding for Phase 1 of the Cavan Regional Sports Campus.
The complex will be suitable for a range of sport, physical activity, community events and programmes.
The project which is led by Cavan County Council, will include facilities for a wide range of sports.
It said The overall regional sports campus, which will be delivered in phases and subject to funding, will be a modern, best-in-class facility and will include an indoor sports facility and arena, changing facilities, reception, café and ancillary accommodation, outdoor sports pitches, and athletics facilities.
Speaking to Northern Sound, local TD Brendan Smith said this is very good news for Cavan.
Cavan County Councillor, John Paul Feely has said the campus will transform the sporting infrastructure of the region.
Meanwhile TD for Cavan and Monaghan Niamh Smyth described the additional funding as lifechanging for sporting groups.
