Monaghan roads policing unit recently carried out speed checks in the Carrickmacross District.
In Castleblayney, particularly on the R181, a number of vehicles were detected traveling in excess of the speed limit.
One vehicle speeding overtook on double continuous white lines.
Another vehicle detected speeding had no insurance. This vehicle was seized.
Conditions on the day were described as being very wet.
Gardai are appealing to people to adhere the speed limits and drive to the conditions of the road.
Fixed charge penalty notices will be issued for all speeding offences and for overtaking on continuous white lines.
A court appearance for no insurance will follow.
