Retired people seeking homes in scenic parts of the country have been driving up house prices across the region.
A countrywide price breakdown in today's Independent revealed Cavan saw increases hit 60% in this five-year period.
The data shows people heading into retirement are particularly interested in homes in coastal areas such as parts of Co. Leitrim, which is causing a rise in demand.
The cost of a three-bed semi detached house in Co. Cavan has risen by 15.9% between July and December 2024, with a price of €237,500 on average.
While there was a spike in the demand for apartments in Co. Monaghan, with prices increasing by 8.5% in that same period.
