A local councillor says the rise in current bovine TB disease levels in Co Monaghan is of 'grave concern'.
Cllr Seamus Coyle said farmers are extremely concerned over the current situation with the number of TB cases at present.
The local councillor says a confirmed case of TB brings an emotional and financial turmoil to farmers that have contracted TB in their herd.
Cllr Coyle described the disease a scourge and said wildlife is a huge problem when it comes to the spreading of TB.
The Fianna Fail councillor brought a motion to yesterday's meeting of the Clones/Ballybay municipal district calling on changes to be made surrounding the governments approach to the disease. Cllr Coyle called for the scrapping of the plans that would see farmers restricted selling dairy cows for 3 years at a mart after an outbreak of TB.
The Monaghan councillor who is also a farmer described these proposed plans as ludicrously gone mad. He says the greatest suffer in all of this is the farmer.
