The rising cost of education is extremely worrying, that's according to local Sinn Fein councillor Stiofan Conaty.
He said concerns have been heightened between rising accommodation costs, rising costs of groceries, rising costs of commuting and public transport, and now an increase in university fees to €3000.
Cllr Conaty says it's preventing young adults from making the most out of the college experience and from getting the best out of the best years of their lives. The Cavan councillor said if he was going to college now, he could not afford to do so in Ireland.
He believes we will have a debt-ridden society, where people are working for decades just to pay back a bank for the privilege of having had an education.
Cllr Conaty is urging the government to reverse their decision to hike fees and instead, scrap them altogether.
