Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal tractor collision in Carrigallen yesterday. A teenage passenger died in the one-vehicle incident which happened just after 3pm on the R204 at Aghavilla. The road near Carrigallen mart remains closed this morning.
The teenage driver of the tractor was taken to Cavan General Hospital with what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries at the time. The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. Meanwhile, the teenager who passed away has been described as 'one of the finest young men' of his parish. Local Councillor Paddy O'Rourke says there's great sadness in the community today (listen below):
