It's claimed the country's roads are at their worst condition in decades.
Sinn Fein TD for Cavan/Monaghan Matt Carthy says it's subjecting motorists to huge bills in repair costs.
He says it's incredibly frustrating for people who are forced to rely on their cars.
Deputy Carthy says he has to say that the state of local roads generally has never been as bad in all of his time.
He says it's evident not enough funding is being provided to local authorities.
The local TD says council staff in Cavan and Monaghan are doing a huge amount of work and are getting efficient use out of the funding that is allocated in terms of the road programme.
He says its simple, more money and a lot more is needed.
