As the number of road fatalities nationwide this year approaches 110, a regional road safety campaign has been launched on the N2 in Co Monaghan. Operation Guide, which is supported Monaghan, Louth and Cavan County Councils and the RSA, will run across the Louth Cavan Monaghan Garda Division until the end of August. In relation to other road safety efforts in Co Monaghan, the Monaghan Road Safety Action Plan was launched in the Garage Theatre and lontas Theatre Castleblayney back in May.
This event was sponsored by Monaghan County Council. Members from all three principal emergency services carried out presentations to transition year students on the hazards associated with road traffic collisions. MCP conducted a live demonstration on their road traffic procedures along with a case study.
