Concerns have been raised in relation to road safety when it comes to speed in the village of Tydavnet.
Following confirmation of speeding issues from a 2025 survey, proposals for traffic calming measures have been developed.
An application by Monaghan County Council will be made through the Department of Transport's Low Cost Safety Scheme in 2027.
Cllr Pauric Clerkin has heard first-hand accounts of how the issue around speed has escalated from local people living in the village.
He noted how a lorry once travelled that fast that the vibrations of the lorry set off a number of house alarms in the village.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Clerkin has called for road safety precautions to be put in place to slow traffic down and make it a safer environment for people living in Tydavnet.
