Rural dwellers remain without water in Co Cavan

Cllr Trevor Smith says the issue is a "big problem" for the area.

A Ballyjamesduff councillor says "water outages" remains one the biggest issues of concern for this area. While water has returned to the town of Ballyjamesduff, rural nearby areas still remain without. Speaking to Northern Sound, Fine Gael's Trevor Smith described the current situation as "disappointing."

While Uisce Eireann removed the tanker away from the town, Cllr Smith confirmed to Northern Sound that the Crosserlough Group Water Scheme have organised a tanker which is now available in the village of Crosskeys. With areas impacted still "unsure" when water will be returning, Cllr Smith says the water outage is also leaving farmers in a "terrible state."

Meanwhile, Cavan County Council confirmed that a water tanker will be made available at Crosserlough Church for 8pm this evening (A82 ET66). Consumers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
