This week marks Safer Gambling Week which runs until the 23th of November.
The annual event is a cross-industry initiative to promote safer gambling in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Now in its eighth year, Safer Gambling Week is an initiative is designed to drive awareness of how to approach gambling responsibly.
The Gambling Regulation Act which was set up in the past 12 months has been described as a bill that was long overdue.
Co Cavan gambling councillor, Darragh King says the bill is about making gambling safer and which adds a number of protections.
He says much of the bill hasn't been implemented as of yet and he hopes this process can be sped up.
When the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 is fully commenced, gambling bodies will need a licence to provide certain gambling activities including online gambling in Ireland.
There will be licences for gaming, betting and some lottery activities. There will also be a separate licence for gambling for charitable purposes
