Samaritans Drogheda and North East are set to open a new hub in Monaghan Town. It is hoped the new hub will open in June of this year. Margaret Fahy who is the Director of the Drogheda and North-East branch says the decision arose due to a noticeable increase in demand.
Statistics show that in 2020, 1.5% of deaths nationally were due to suicide, however this went up to 1.8% in border counties. Margaret noted that loneliness is the top of reason why people contact the service, particularly since Covid.
