Scotstown GAA launched its annual Make Your Ceile event, which has been running since its foundation by the late Bernie Sherry.
Thi event offers the opportunity to encourage young and old in our communities to pay a visit to a neighbour/family member or those who may be suffering with social isolation.
The launch, which took place this week, welcomed representatives from the ALONE charity.
Scotstown's Health and Wellbeing officer, Abbie McCarey appealed to anyone who may have a spare hour during the week to consider volunteering with Alone, and give the gift of time this Christmas.
Speaking to Northern Sound, she highlighted that Christmas can be a difficult time of year for elderly people, with rural and social isolation.
Ms. McCarey said that people could pop into a neighbour for a chat.
She said: "Its not a structured campaign, anyone can get involved.
"Its just if you have a spare hour, in your week or in to pop into a neighbour, someone who may have been recently widowed, or may be living alone," she added.
