Sewage concerns raised by residents in Sruthan Claddagh

Cllr Coyle hopes that before summer, Sruthan Claddagh can appear on the agenda of Monaghan County Council and elected members can make the decision to take this estate in charge.

A local councillor has expressed the concerns of residents living in the Sruthan Claddagh area of Ballybay. The estate which is currently waiting to be taken in charge by Monaghan County Council has faced constant challenges with the sewage system.

In recent days, the sewage system backed up, creating a "terrible smell" in the estate which inevitably entered houses. Cllr Seamus Coyle says he immediately made contact with Monaghan County Council and Uisce Eireann in relation to the matter.

Although the situation was dealt with by the local authority yesterday morning, Cllr Coyle says this is "not a permanent solution to the problem."

With public consultation closing on the 10th of June, Cllr Coyle told Northern Sound that he is hopeful that when elected representatives get the final say, they will "fully support" this estate being taken in charge:
