The number of people killed on the roads in the Cavan/Monaghan/Louth Garda Division have dropped significantly.
A total of nine people lost their lives in road traffic incidents last year compared to twenty in 2023.
So far this year three people have died on local roads within the Garda district. The head of the Division Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern has welcomed the drop in deaths on our roads.
Speaking to Northern Sound he said an initiative by the Roads Policing Unit in the region is having an impact. Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern said last summer they launched Operation Guide in the Cavan/Monaghan/Louth Garda Division and it has been a game changer.
