A significant revamp has been announced for the Bank of Ireland branch in Ballybay.
Local Fianna Fáil Cllr, Seamus Coyle said that work will began in the branch in January 2026, and is due to be completed by early February 2026.
Cllr. Coyle highlighted that a "brand new" ATM will also be in place in the town.
He said that the lack of an ATM in the town has been a huge inconvenience to local people.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr. Coyle explained the importance of having an ATM in the area.
Cllr. Coyle said: "The ATM is one of the busiest in the region. We must remember, many towns in our region have unfortunately lost their banks, and their banking facilities.
"The ATM in Ballybay does provide an excellent service, unfortunately it was out of action for a while.
"Something else I was made aware of is, any interference with it, like attempts to put in scratch cards, that immediately closes down the ATM.
"Any persons involved in activity like that, the inconvenience is being caused to the towns people and people from the hinterland," Cllr. Coyle added.
