A programme aimed at addressing the shortage of skilled craftspeople in Ireland today is seeking applications from tradespeople already working in the construction sector.
Skills such as stonemasonry, carpentry, bricklaying, blacksmithing, plastering, thatching, roofing, tiling, painting, and decorating are needed for the conservation, repair and maintenance of historic buildings and structures in Ireland. The programme run by Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark also aims to showcase the substantial contribution that traditional craft skills can make in shaping and creating new spaces and places.
In an online post, Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark advises the public this is "not an entry-level programme" and in order to gain a place on the course candidates must have prior experience in their craft area of choice, either via college or onsite working experience. Applications close tomorrow on 11th April.
