Seachtaine na Gaeilge has been a great success in Cavan and Monaghan, according to a local Gaeilgóir.
Seán Ó Murchadh from Muineacháin le Gaeilge highlighted the new Irish language group set up in Cavan, as well as various groups across Co. Monaghan.
He believes that Seachtaine na Gaeilge gets a lot of focus at this time of year, but highlighted how strong use of the language is all year round.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Seán outlined where the language is being used throughout the county.
He is looking forward to the day that when speaking the language isn't considered anything special.
Seán said: "Seachtaine na Gaeilge puts a particular focus on this time of the year, but I would think based on the fact that Monaghan has a high percentage of people attending Irish language medium education.
"There is a lot of other schools doing a lot of work as well. You have the public spaces now as well. That all help's to 'normalise' the language, for want of a better word.
"I'd like for the day that we wouldn't be talking about it as a special thing, its just a matter of fact thing. At the same time, its great to be able to celebrate our native tongue," he added.
