Cavan Arts Festival begins this evening for its eighth year, transforming Cavan Town into a vibrant hub of artistic expression.
This four-day, artist-led celebration promises an eclectic mix of music, theatre, dance, visual arts, comedy, circus, and workshops, offering something for everyone. Centred around the iconic Big Top Tent in Con Smith Park, the festival will also feature performances and installations across various venues, including Cavan's famous Townhall Arts Centre.
Attendees can look forward to a diverse and daring line-up of local and national artists, with highlights such as The Blindboy Podcast Live, Park Life' in Con Smith Park and the Sound of Time Flying and much more.
Local musician, Josh McClorey is involved in the Sound of Time Flying who perform tomorrow evening in the Townhall. He says the special arts event is a celebration of the arts in Cavan and the four day line up also offer an unique platform for so many artists from near and far. The annual Cavan Arts Festival returns for its eighth edition from 15th – 18th May with organisers promising a “diverse and daring” line-up of acts across the four-day festival, taking place in Cavan Town.
Headline acts performing at Cavan’s Townhall Arts Centre include The Blindboy Podcast, comedian Alison Spittle, acclaimed Belgian circus performers OkiDok, and ‘The Sound of Time Flying’, a Dermot Healy inspired all-star musical extravaganza headed up by acclaimed guitarist and songwriter Josh McClorey.
Meanwhile, on Saturday and Sunday, events will revolve around the festival’s iconic Big Top in Con Smith Park, where audiences can enjoy an array of mostly free events for young and old as they enjoy the fine weather. Other highlights include a special ‘Bike Week’ Pedal Parade for budding bikers, a green-inspired programme exploring the intersection between art and the environment, and interactive workshops ranging from samba and circus to Painting with Lorraine and ArtClub.
