A gradual increase in the supply of housing in Carrickmacross has been described as "positive" for the area, despite concerns over the fact that more landlords are deciding to leave the rental market and the implications of that.
That's according to Dermot Conlon of REA Gunne Property in Carrickmacross.
According to Mr Conlon, more private housing developments and a number of other planning applications on the drawing board for Carrickmacross has enticed more people to the area.
He says people are relocating from North Dublin, Drogheda and Navan to Carrickmacross which has a good daily commuter service.
He believes the new remote working model also allows more people to reside in the likes of Carrickmacross which is "positive for Co Monaghan as a whole."
Despite this, the local estate agents says an increase in landlords exiting the local rental market due to rent pressure zones will increase the number of houses for sale, however it will decrease opportunities for people to rent:
