A special event involving a swift survey is planned for tomorrow in Cavan Town.
There is swift summer walk organised through Cavan town on Wednesday from 7pm meeting at the Johnston Library.
The Cavan Summer Swift Stroll is about gathering data on the migrating bird that is the swift.
Swift birds like to nest in buildings while they remain in Ireland for a number of months during the summer. Swifts migrate back to Africa but return each year.
Swifts virtually spend all of their life airborne and never seen resting on wires, as Swallows and Martins frequently do and they are one of the fastest flying birds in Ireland. Surveyor of the migrating bird, Helen Taylor says the event offers an informative platform to find out more about swifts locally.
