The Tanaiste says he remains committed to increasing the number of houses available to rent here.
It comes ahead of the final Dail debates on the Residential Tenancies Bill later.
The Government is looking to enact changes in the Bill by the 1st of March with landlords able to reset rents to “market rate” on that date.
Tanaiste Simon Harris says they have made these changes to ensure more tenancies are available to those who need them:
He said: "Houses are required for the rental market. As of the last census, there were 330,000 units in the private rental sector, 62% were outside of Dublin, so we do need to make sure there is a rental supply."
