Local TD Matt Carthy has said that the government has been too slow in planning for the end of the Temporary Protection Directive.
Deputy Carthy said that there remains a lack of clarity about what will happen to those to those beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, who don’t avail of the Temporary Protection Transition Scheme.
According to the Sinn Féin TD, the Government has been "extraordinarily slow" in preparing for the end of the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD).
Deputy Cathy believes that they should have been planning for what comes next for those who came here under TPD.
He said that this was an emergency measure and should not be in place for 5 years.
