A suspected case of avian influenza in Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, has been confirmed by Northern Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
The department has considered the findings of veterinary inquiries at premises where bird flu is suspected.
In order to reduce the risk of the transmission of avian influenza, DAERA has declared a Temporary Control Zone in the areas around the premises.
The Closure Zone A will be applied in an area within a radius of a minimum of three kilometres.
Meanwhile, Zone B applies to an area covering 10 kilometres.
The suspected case in Co. Fermanagh follows confirmation of a separate suspected case on a commercial poultry premises in Co. Tyrone yesterday.
Following the suspected case in Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland’s Chief Veterinary Officer, Brian Dooher called on all bird owners to adhere to biosecurity to measures to protect their flocks.
